Darling opened her eyes and lifted her head slightly when Shadow nickered to her, but didn't try to stand. Feeling cold, the young colt didn't move, didn't even breathe, but when he felt a nudge, the colt coughed and snorted before trying to move any. Instead, both mare and foal stayed on the ground, only the mare was the one who was in a position where she could easily move to get to her feet, so she tried hard to with a few failed attempts. Nudging her foal with licks to the face, Darling's tail flicked back and forth, as she continued to struggle to stand.

Shadow breathed a sigh of relief when to young colt started to breath and move. Seeing that Darling wanted to get up and was struggling he went over to her and helped her the best that he could. He was also keeping an eye on the colt to make sure that he was still breathing and was out of the way. As Shadow helped Darling he noticed how light she was now without the foal being inside her. This worried him a lot but first he needed to help both of them stand. Then he would worry about everything else later. He flicked his tail from side to side trying to get the flies away. Nickering to both the mare and the colt he tried to encourage both of them to get up. He also knew it would be safer once both were standing and they were on the move but he also knew that they were in no shape to go anywhere right at this moment.

Darling let Shadow help her back to her hooves, then stepped over to her colt where he slowly moved his head up off of the ground. Darling nickered softly at him, hoping he was alright and would stand soon, she was starting to get worried about him not standing, even when she could barely stand herself. Laying back down next to her colt, she kept nudging his shoulders until he finnaly tried to stand on long, wobbly legs. The world still spun in circles as the roan colored foal tried to stand a few times, but never could until he felt his mother hold her nose against his stomach as she tried to stand again just as well, but both stood on wobbly legs. The young colt was the first to move as he stepped closer to the white mare, longing for food that took much life from her.

Suko kept walking aloung at a slow pace with the other two following, but his head wasn't their at the moment. It was with the white mare back at the pen. He was worried as she lloked far aloung and was thinking about whether or not to turn around. While his mind was on that, He noticed that the black mare kept glancing behind her, obviosly woried about her left behind companion. This gesture alone made up his mind for him. Turning he gestured for the other two to keep folowing him explaining as he strode away, "I can't head back to my area knowing that your companion is left behind, come we are going back and waiting for her making our pace one she can keep up with." And with that he increased the pace to a trot hoping to get there with good time.

Dustie and Cale lifted their heads when he turned around and explained why they were turning around before Cale took off at a quick gallop back to Darling with Dustie at a steady canter. Both young horses were happy to be returning back to their friend left behind, but Cale came to a sudden halt at the top of a hill as did Dustie when she caught up. What they saw below, shocked both horses. The white mare was alot skinner than the two black drafts, but she now looked as if she was struggling to stand with a small foal in front of her, and another stallion near by. Cale gave a loud neigh out to her, but she hadn't turned to look at them, she just stood there with her head low and eyes closed, facing the foal.

Shadow watched as darling laid back down by her colt the encouraged him to stand. Then seeing that she was going to get back up he stepped forward to help but Darling was able to get up on her own this time, although she was still weak. She was a fighter and that is what Shadow liked about her, she never gave up. He watched as the colt went to feed for the first time, but also worried about what is was doing to Darling. Shadow remembered that he didn't even know her name. "What is your name?" Shadow then heard hooves hitting the ground not that far away. His ears flickering he tensed just a bit ready for danger. He scanned the area with his tail flicking the flies away. He then saw a young black Friesian appear on top of a hill and then a black Clydesdale with white on her face and three of her legs appeared next to him. He heard the young Friesian call and looked at Darling to see if she noticed but she was to busy watching her colt. He then turned his attention back to the hill and he was ready to protect the white mare and her roan colt.

Darling stood still so that her colt could nurse, before she looked up at the two friends that had come back to see how she was. As she watched them, she noticed that Dustie stepped backwards as did Cale. Giving a reasurring whinny to her adoptive family, Darlilng threw her hed back as the black colt came bolting towards her, his ears forward. The white mare looked at Shadow when she spoke to him. "Forgive me sir. You can call me Darling if you please." Dipping her white head, the white mare's stance fautured a little before she regained balance and stepped toward the black colt with an outstretched nose, but remained closer to Shadow and her new colt. Unsure of the roan colt, Dustie stayed a ways back as Cale walked closer to them, but kept his distance away from the new stallion and the roan foal, that must be Darlings. He flicked his short tail at some flies, and remained ready to bolt if need be.

Shadow relaxed a little when Darling greeted the two horses that were on the hill 'She must know them so they must not be a threat.' Shadow smiled "Nice to meet you, and there is nothing to forgive. You did nothing wrong." Shadow grew tense seeing that Darling was still weak and off balance. He was ready to spring in case she fell again, but hoping she would not. He took a step with her but it was just the one. He didn't want to get in the way of this reunion but he wanted to be there to help. Shadow Saw how tense the young black colt was and how cautious the black mare was also. He was trying not to scare them away for he feels that it is his presence that spooked them. he doesn't blame them for he would be the same way if some strange horse showed up while he was away.

Suko just cleared the ridge and joined the mare that was standing back when he noticed a stallion near the white mare. This alarmed him as it might come to a battle for the mares. He had already claimed the black mare and the colt but had left behind the white mare to join them later. Now he was regretting his decition as it had attracted a rivals attention. Suko looked at the scene calmly. There was now a foal at the white mares side which would make her a little dangerous as mares with young where very tempermental when protecting. This also meant that the rival had helped her when Suko himself had left them behind. This was looking bad. If the stallion claimed the white mare he would only have two choises. One give up the mare and take the two he has and forever seperate them or two. fight for the right to all four of them and risk losing the two he has a hold over. Niether he wanted to do but if worst came to worst, he would fight for all or nothing rather than seporate them again.

Shadow was watching Darling and her colt when he looked up and saw another stallion standing on the hill. He tensed ready to protect Darling and her colt but he was also not wanting to fight anyone. He wanted to see what Darling wanted, but knowing that it would probably come down to a fight. He also didn't want Darling to be under to much stress. He also knew that Darling would be protective of her colt and he didn't know what way she would go. He wasn't sure on what to do at the moment but he was going to stay by Darling and her colt for as long as he could. Shadow then turned his attention back to Darling but he was also keeping an eye on the other stallion. Waiting...watching...

Darling stayed where she was and watched the others silently before nickering gently to the younger of the two black horses that had been her companions for months nearly years. Darling's ears fell back when she could feel the tension of the two stallions here in one spot before they flicked forward. What was that? A loud crack sounded from near the hill that Dustie and Suko stood upon, and it was enough to scare Dustie into a slight dance sideways with ears back while the muscles under her coat tightened and she lost slight balance. Cale bolted to Darling's side with ears back before he caught himself and stepped toward Dustie and Suko again. Cale might be young, but he wanted to keep his family together for as long as he could, but the descision was up to the mares. It all depended on Darling's back now. From where he stood, he could hear the foal neigh silently, before Dustie bolted off. Looking backwards at the white Shire, he saw her watch with slight longing in her eyes as she watched Dustie, then realized the young black colt was watching her. "Go. Be with Dustie, keep near her for as long as you can Cale. It is time we left our old lives behind now." She said and stretched her nose toward him as he return the gesture before stepping up to her side, refusing to go. Darling expected this, so she sighed and gave the older colt a gentle nudge toward Suko before lifting his head toward him. "I expect you to care well for both of them for as long as they are to be known as part of your herd Stallion." Her neigh was loud despit her appearence and strenth. "If I find you have not cared for either til the day has come to go seperate ways, you will have a trouble mare near." She warned before stepping closer to Shadow and walking away from the ruins again, all was silent aside from Cale and Dustie's cry that broke the stillness before the sound of hooves from the two trotting and walking back up to Suko. Dustie gave a single last rear high for her fighting companion. The one she trusted, and hoped to have around in time. Darling stopped and looked back to see if Shadow was following, and which way to leave the old lands' ruins.

Suko watched the whole thing calmley. He dipped his head to the white mares proclamation of seperation and waited for the two he would call his to reach him. As they drew up he turned to the direction that would lead home and gave a nudge to both the mare and colt to get them moving. It saddend him that they were seperating but whats done is done and he headed out for home.
After a few minuets of walking, he relised he never asked the names of his companions. Since they where to stay with him he should know at least this much. Without breaking stride he asked them 'I have been with you for a while, but i never heard your names. Would you please enlighten me on what they are?"

Shadow was standing watching the whole scene and still keeping an eye on the other stallion. He heard Darling call to the Youngest of the two black horses. He saw her ears fall back because of the tension between the other stallion and himself. His ears shot forward at the same time hers did when a loud crack sounded from near the hill that the stallion and the other black horse were standing on. He watched as the black mare danced sideways with her ears back scared and he saw that she lost her balance a little. Then he saw the black colt bolt to darlings side with his ears back also. Then he stepped back from Darling toward the others. He heard the colt neigh slightly and saw the other mare bolt off. From where Shadow was standing he could see the longing in her eyes to be with the other and when she spoke her words surprised him. He watched as the two of them made parting ways then saw the young colt stand at Darlings side refusing to go. He saw her nudge the colt and heard what she said to the other stallion then saw him dip his head to her words. Even though he didn't know the others he would protect them to if they ever needed it for they are friends and family to Darling. Seeing Darling move closer to him the start walking he called to the other stallion " You will also have a really angry stallion right next to the mare," then he added as an after thought, "Darlings family is welcome to come and visit if they wish and she is welcome to go and visit you also. I do not wish to break your family ties." Shadow bowed his head then looked at Darling. All that he heard was The others cries and their hooves hitting the ground as they went back to the other stallion for all else was quite. It felt to him like nature was waiting to see what would happen. He saw the black mare rear high and he watched as the other stallion turned and left with the other following. Shadow then looked back at darling and followed her. "Would you like to see your new home?" He said and smiled.

Darling held her head high as she watched them leave with a smile at Shadow's added words. So far, she could tell that he was aware of the family bonds between the three horses, but Darling knew they each had to learn to be on their own. Looking at Shadow again, she spoke as the skin on her shoulder's twitched. "Of course." She flicked her tail slightly, even the smallest of movements took alot of energy from her, and she at this time, so desperatly wanted to get to a place where she knew her and her foal would be safe from most troubles, and where she could go for green grass to help her regain her life from death's doors. The two black yearlings kept up with the stallion's pace, neither one wanted to speak, but it was Dustie who spoke as Cale trailed close behind, his shoulder near her back leg, but still out of her kicking distance whenever she walked. "I'm Dustie, and he's Cale." Her voice was sorrowed from the departure of the white mare. The one who stood out from the small herd of theirs, yet she was grateful she had lived, and with a foal at her side now, but it was that that had worried her even further for the mare's health and life. Shaking her mane, Dustie tried to look at life ahead, and planned with herself to go and visit Darling, the new colt and the stallion they had gone with. She'll even take Cale when she went. Lifting her head, the black and white mare looked over at the stallion they could now call their leader. "And who might you be?" She said, curiousity had krept into her voice as she spoke to him this time.

Shadow knew fully well how strong family bonds could get. He watched Darling as the others departed wishing that they could all live together. It delighted him that she was ready to go and get out of there. He knew how eager she was to leave but he also knew that they would have to go slow and not rush. His land was nice and safe, there were a few mountain lions but they wouldn't bother them that much. They would be following the others for a little bit but not in the same direction. the were going to go at an angle. Shadow was excited that he could share home with others that needed it and that he would have company. He felt bad that the three, now four, of them had to split up but he was hopping that it would all work out in the end. He flicked his tail and shook out his main. Then Shadow, with ears forward, took a few steps in the direction of their home wanting Darling to set the pace.
